In 1862 in Puebla, Mexico the battle of "Cinco de Mayo" (May 5th) happened. The Mexican army defeated the French army in one of its interventions, and since then this date is commemorated in Puebla with a parade in the city capital where the army is exalted in its different historical facets.

The Adelitas were women who during the Mexican Revolution (1910) rose up in arms to fight in the war, most of them were peasants. And during the 5th of May parade, their participation is also commemorate
